DAY 1: CASABLANCA → CHEFCHAOUEN
Your adventure begins with a warm greeting at Mohammed V International Airport or your Casablanca hotel. From there, you will journey north into the Rif Mountains to reach the enchanting town of Chefchaouen. After checking into your riad, the remainder of the day is yours to wander through the famous blue-painted streets at your own pace. Browse the vibrant local markets, sip mint tea at a cozy café, and soak in the serene atmosphere before settling into your riad for a peaceful overnight stay.
DAY 2: CHEFCHAOUEN → FES
Following a delicious breakfast, you will depart the blue city and travel south toward the spiritual capital of Morocco, Fes. Upon arrival, an expert local guide will lead you through the city’s ancient, winding streets. You will dive into its medieval history, marvel at the stunning architectural details, and experience the lively atmosphere of the traditional Medina. After enjoying an authentic Moroccan lunch amidst the bustling souks, you will retreat to a charming, centrally-located riad to relax and spend the night.
DAY 3: MERZOUGA → RISSANI → TODRA GORGE → DADES VALLEY
Wake up early to catch the first light of the sun over the dunes. After breakfast, you’ll explore the desert region further by 4×4, visiting the old mines of M’Fis and the village of Khamlia to hear live Gnawa music. You will also visit a nomadic family to learn about their way of life.
In the afternoon, we head west to Rissani to visit its famous traditional market (if it’s a market day). We then continue to the Todra Gorge, where the river has carved a massive canyon through the mountains. After a walk through the gorge, the day concludes in the Dades Valley, famous for its unique “monkey fingers” rock formations. Dinner and overnight in the Dades Valley.
DAY 3: FES → IFRANE → MIDDLE ATLAS MOUNTAINS → ZIZ VALLEY → MERZOUGA DESERT
After breakfast, the scenic drive heads south toward the Sahara. Your first brief stop is the European-styled town of Ifrane, followed by a visit to the sprawling cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, where you can spot wild Barbary macaques in their natural habitat. After a lunch break on the road, the route descends into the spectacular Ziz Valley, renowned for its massive, lush date palm oasis.
By afternoon, you will arrive at the edge of the Merzouga desert. Here, you will trade your vehicle for a camel, embarking on a trek across the mesmerizing Erg Chebbi dunes. You will pause on a high ridge to watch a stunning Saharan sunset before arriving at your luxury desert camp. Enjoy a traditional dinner, gather around the campfire for live Berber drumming, and sleep beneath a brilliant canopy of stars.
DAY 4: MERZOUGA DESERT → RISSANI → TODRA GORGE → DADES GORGE
Wake up early to catch a breathtaking desert sunrise over the dunes. Following breakfast, you can return to the village via camel or a comfortable 4×4 vehicle. The journey west begins with a stop in Rissani to explore its traditional market (especially vibrant if you visit on a Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday).
Next, you will travel to the magnificent Todra Gorge, where you can stroll along the riverbed flanked by dramatic, towering rock walls. The drive then continues into the Dades Valley, offering spectacular panoramic views of the striking “monkey fingers” geological formations. You will enjoy dinner and a restful overnight stay at a comfortable hotel nestled in the gorge.
DAY 5: DADES GORGE → OUARZAZATE → AIT BEN HADDOU → HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS → MARRAKECH
The final day starts with a drive toward Ouarzazate, affectionately known as the “Gateway to the Desert” and the “Hollywood of Africa.” Here, you have the option to visit the renowned Atlas Studios. From there, you will head to the legendary Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a beautifully preserved UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its appearances in cinematic epics like Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia.
After lunch at a local restaurant, the journey ascends the winding roads of the High Atlas Mountains, offering sweeping mountain vistas. By late afternoon, you will descend into the vibrant city of Marrakech, where your driver will drop you off at your accommodation or the airport, concluding your incredible Moroccan journey.
