HIGHLIGHTS
Tour ITINERARY
DAY 1: FES → IFRANE → MIDDLE ATLAS MOUNTAINS → ZIZ VALLEY → MERZOUGA
Your 2-day desert trip starts with a pick-up from your riad in Fes. From there, you will travel south toward the Sahara desert of Merzouga. Your first destination is the city of Ifrane, which is known as the Switzerland of Morocco because of its colder climate and alpine architecture. After that, you will cross the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping by the road in a cedar forest to see some Barbary monkeys.
Following a lunch stop at a restaurant somewhere along the way, you will travel along the Ziz Valley—an immense oasis full of palm trees. You will stop at a panoramic viewpoint to take in the sheer size of this beautiful oasis.
You will reach the desert in the afternoon. Your camels will be waiting to take you across the dunes to your luxury camp. Along the way, you will pause on a high dune to watch a gorgeous sunset. Once you arrive at the campsite, the staff will show you to your private tent, where you can relax and take a shower. After having a delicious dinner, the team will light a bonfire. Take a seat and enjoy the starry night view while the local Berbers drum and sing traditional music.
DAY 2: MERZOUGA → AIT BEN HADDOU → HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS → MARRAKECH
Today, waking up early in the morning is highly recommended so you can watch a calm and colorful sunrise. After a tasty breakfast, you will leave the camp by a 4×4 vehicle, driving back to the town of Merzouga. From there, you will start your long journey to Marrakech with several scenic stops along the way.
One of the main stops is a panoramic view of Ait Ben Haddou, the most famous Kasbah in Morocco. Because of the long driving day, you will not have time to explore the inside of the Kasbah and will view it from the outside. This fortified village has been protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 1987 and has served as a filming location for many famous productions, including The Mummy, Prince of Persia, and Game of Thrones.
After taking some pictures of this historical site, you will cross the High Atlas Mountains, stopping for sweeping panoramic views of the peaks and valleys. Your Fes to Marrakech desert trip concludes as your guide drops you off at your hotel or riad in Marrakech.
Paying for your tour is straightforward. A small upfront deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your spot — this can be sent via PayPal, bank transfer, or Wise.
