DAY 1: TANGIER → CHEFCHAOUEN
Your adventure begins with a warm welcome and pick-up at Tangier airport, one of the ports, or your hotel by your friendly local guide. From Tangier, you will take a scenic drive south to the enchanting town of Chefchaouen, nestled in the beautiful Rif Mountains. Upon arrival, check into your comfortable hotel or riad and spend the day exploring its iconic blue-painted streets and picturesque buildings. Enjoy a leisurely walk through the narrow alleyways, visit the lively markets, and unwind at local cafes serving authentic Moroccan cuisine. Overnight in a delightful riad/hotel in Chefchaouen.
DAY 2: CHEFCHAOUEN → FES
After a delightful breakfast at your riad, prepare for a fascinating journey to the medieval city of Fes. Upon arrival, a knowledgeable local guide will meet you to showcase the historic wonders of Fes. You’ll dive deep into its rich history, explore its intricate streets, and admire the stunning architecture of this ancient cultural hub. Savor a delicious optional lunch in the bustling Medina to taste local flavors. After a full day of discovery, relax and unwind at a charming riad located in the heart of the Fes Medina, marking the end of a serene day.
DAY 3: FES → IFRANE → MIDDLE ATLAS MOUNTAINS → ZIZ VALLEY → MERZOUGA DESERT
Following breakfast, your unforgettable journey to the desert begins as you head south toward the magical Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga. The first stop is the picturesque city of Ifrane, allowing you to relax and take in the scenic beauty. Continuing through the Middle Atlas Mountains, you’ll visit a cedar forest to observe native Barbary apes in their natural habitat. After a lunch stop, the drive descends into the mesmerizing Ziz Valley, renowned for its lush, sprawling palm tree oasis.
By the afternoon, you will arrive at the Merzouga desert to begin your authentic camel caravan experience. Ride your camel across the enchanting sand dunes, pausing to take in a breathtaking sunset from a high dune. You’ll then arrive at your luxury desert camp and settle into your private tent for refreshment. DAY 4: MERZOUGA DESERT → RISSANI → TODRA GORGE → DADES VALLEY
An early wake-up is highly recommended to catch a stunning sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes. After a delicious breakfast, return to the main road by camel or a comfortable 4×4 vehicle. The drive west begins with a stop in Rissani to experience its vibrant traditional market (if it falls on a market day: Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday).
The route continues to the Todra Gorge, where you can take a leisurely walk beneath the awe-inspiring high cliffs carved out by the Todra River. As you progress towards the Dades Gorge, prepare to be amazed by the extraordinary rock formations known as “monkey fingers.” The scenic drive along the Dades Valley offers panoramic vistas before arriving at your charming hotel for dinner and a restful overnight stay.
DAY 5: DADES VALLEY → OUARZAZATE → AIT BEN HADDOU → HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS → MARRAKECH
After breakfast, the first destination of your final day is Ouarzazate, famously known as the “Gateway to the Desert” and the “Hollywood of Africa.” Here, you have the option to explore Atlas Studios, the largest film studio in Morocco. The journey then takes you to the iconic Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring intricate mud-brick architecture that has served as the backdrop for films like “The Mummy” and “Prince of Persia.”
