This unique 3-day itinerary is specially designed for travelers who want to dedicate an entire, uninterrupted day to the Sahara Desert without adding extra days to their trip. Unlike standard routes that break up the journey, this tour features a direct drive to Merzouga on the first day. This allows you to spend your entire second day fully immersed in the Merzouga region—exploring the massive Erg Chebbi dunes by 4×4, meeting local nomadic families, and embarking on a sunset camel trek. You will spend your first night in a beautiful desert riad and your second night sleeping beneath the stars in a luxury desert camp.
While the first and third days involve a significant amount of driving (approximately 9 hours each), the reward is a deep, authentic exploration of the Sahara’s landscapes and culture that shorter desert stops simply cannot provide.

DAY 1: MARRAKECH → HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS → AIT BEN HADDOU KASBAH → MERZOUGA DESERT
Your unique 3-day adventure begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. We immediately set out toward the Sahara, driving through the winding, picturesque roads of the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we will pause to take in the breathtaking panoramic views of the rugged peaks and traditional Berber villages.
A major highlight of the day is a stop at the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its panoramic views and ancient mud-brick architecture. After a lunch break, we continue our long, scenic drive directly to the Merzouga desert. Upon arrival in the evening, you will check into a stunning local riad situated right at the edge of the dunes, where you will enjoy dinner and a restful overnight stay to prepare for tomorrow’s adventure.
DAY 2: FULL DAY MERZOUGA DESERT EXPLORATION & CAMEL TREK
After breakfast at your riad, this day is entirely dedicated to uncovering the beauty and peacefulness of the Merzouga desert. We will venture off-road in a 4×4 vehicle to explore the impressive landscapes surrounding the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. A special part of the day includes visiting a local Nomadic family in their traditional tent, where you will share tea and learn about their enduring way of life in the harsh desert environment.
In the late afternoon, you will trade the 4×4 for a camel caravan. Guided by an experienced cameleer, you will ride deep into the golden dunes, pausing on a high ridge to watch a stunning Sahara sunset. You will then arrive at your luxury desert camp. Following a delicious Moroccan dinner, you can sit around a crackling campfire with local Berber hosts who will play traditional drums and share stories under a magnificent, star-filled night sky.
DAY 3: MERZOUGA DESERT → MARRAKECH
We highly recommend waking up early to witness a breathtaking desert sunrise slowly illuminating the dunes. After a delightful breakfast at the camp, you will take a comfortable 4×4 vehicle (or ride your camels) back to the village of Merzouga to meet your driver.
Today is dedicated to the return journey to the vibrant city of Marrakech. We will trace our way back through the southern Moroccan landscapes, making several stops along the route to rest, stretch your legs, and enjoy lunch. You will arrive back in Marrakech in the late afternoon or early evening, where your driver will drop you off directly at your accommodation. End of the tour.
Paying for your tour is straightforward. A small upfront deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your spot — this can be sent via PayPal, bank transfer, or Wise. The outstanding balance is then settled directly with your driver or guide on the first day of your trip, accepted in euros, US dollars, or Moroccan dirhams.
