Tour ITINERARY

DAY 1: MARRAKECH → HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS → AIT BEN HADDOU → DADES VALLEY

Your 5-day adventure begins with a warm welcome and morning pick-up from your Marrakech accommodation or the airport. We depart the vibrant city and immediately ascend into the majestic High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass. Along the way, you will be treated to sweeping, panoramic views of the rugged landscape and traditional Berber villages clinging to the hillsides.

The first major highlight of the day is the world-renowned Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a stunning example of ancient Moroccan clay architecture. This incredibly preserved UNESCO World Heritage site has served as the cinematic backdrop for legendary films like Gladiator and the hit series Game of Thrones. Following a relaxing lunch, the drive continues along the “Route of a Thousand Kasbahs,” eventually taking you into the breathtaking Dades Valley. You will arrive at a charming, comfortable hotel in the valley to relax, enjoy a delicious dinner, and spend a peaceful night.

DAY 2: DADES VALLEY → TODRA GORGE → MERZOUGA DESERT & LUXURY CAMP

After a hearty breakfast at your hotel, we take a short, scenic drive through the Dades Valley, pausing to capture panoramic vistas of the spectacular gorges and the famous “monkey fingers” rock formations. We then head to the neighboring Todra Gorge, a massive natural fault carved by the Todra River. You will have time to take a leisurely stroll beneath the sheer, towering red limestone cliffs, which are a popular haven for rock climbers.

Following a lunch break, the journey pushes further south, passing through the historic palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad until the towering sand dunes of Erg Chebbi appear on the horizon. Arriving in Merzouga in the late afternoon, a camel caravan will be waiting to take you deep into the Sahara. You will pause on the high dunes to witness a glorious desert sunset before arriving at your luxury desert camp. Freshen up in your private en-suite tent before enjoying a wonderful dinner and an evening of rhythmic Berber drumming around a blazing campfire beneath a spectacular, starry sky.

DAY 3: MERZOUGA DESERT → ZIZ VALLEY → MIDDLE ATLAS MOUNTAINS → IFRANE → FES

We strongly recommend waking up early to witness a magical Sahara sunrise slowly casting light over the rolling dunes. After a delightful breakfast at the camp, you will take a comfortable 4×4 ride (or an optional morning camel trek) back to Merzouga town to meet your driver.

Today’s drive heads north, bringing a dramatic shift in the landscape. We first travel through the vast, lush palm oasis of the Ziz Valley, pausing for panoramic photos, before ascending into the Middle Atlas Mountains. We will make a special stop in the beautiful cedar forests near Azrou, where you can observe native, playful Barbary macaques in their natural habitat. We will also pause in Ifrane, famously referred to as the “Switzerland of Morocco” due to its alpine-style architecture and pristine, tree-lined streets. By late afternoon, we will arrive in the imperial city of Fes. You will check into your chosen riad or hotel in the historic Medina for a relaxing evening and an overnight stay.

DAY 4: GUIDED EXPLORATION OF FES MEDINA

After breakfast at your tranquil riad, a knowledgeable local guide will meet you to begin a comprehensive, fascinating walking tour of the Fes Medina—one of the world’s largest, oldest, and most intact medieval cities. You will navigate the labyrinthine alleys, stepping back in time as you explore vibrant local souks, historic madrasas (Islamic schools) featuring intricate tilework, and the famous, highly photogenic traditional leather tanneries.

Fes is considered the cultural and spiritual heart of Morocco. Throughout the tour, your guide will share tailored insights into its rich heritage and architecture. After the guided portion concludes, the afternoon will be free for you to further explore the city at your own pace, discover hidden gems, or simply relax at your riad. Overnight stay at your riad in Fes.

DAY 5: FES → CHEFCHAOUEN

After breakfast, we depart from Fes and head north, driving into the scenic Rif Mountains toward the captivating town of Chefchaouen. Widely known as the “Blue Pearl” of Morocco, Chefchaouen is world-famous for its striking, blue-washed buildings, peaceful mountain atmosphere, and charming cobblestone alleys.

Upon arrival, you will have ample time to wander through the vibrant, highly photogenic streets, browse unique local handicrafts, and relax at a cozy café in the lively main square, Place Outa el Hammam. Take in the serene, enchanting beauty of this unique mountain town at your own pace. Your 5-day journey officially concludes with a drop-off at your accommodation in Chefchaouen.
