Tour ITINERARY
DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN MARRAKECH
Welcome to Morocco! Your 5-day adventure begins with a warm reception at Marrakech Menara Airport. A dedicated local guide or driver will meet you and provide a smooth transfer to your traditional riad in the heart of the city, allowing you to check in and settle comfortably. The remainder of the day is yours to explore at your leisure. We highly recommend visiting the iconic Jemaa el-Fnaa square—the bustling, beating heart of Marrakech—to soak in its lively atmosphere. Enjoy a delicious Moroccan dinner at one of the square’s rooftop restaurants before returning to your delightful riad for a restful first night.
DAY 2: MARRAKECH → HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS → AIT BEN HADDOU KASBAH → OUARZAZATE → DADES VALLEY
After breakfast, your desert expedition officially begins with a convenient pick-up directly from your riad. Leaving the vibrant city behind, the route heads southeast, ascending the spectacular, winding roads of the High Atlas Mountains. We will pause frequently at panoramic viewpoints to photograph the rugged peaks and traditional Berber villages clinging to the hillsides.
By midday, we reach the village of Ait Ben Haddou for a relaxing lunch and a visit to its famous UNESCO-listed kasbah. This ancient fortified mud-brick village has served as the cinematic backdrop for Hollywood epics like Gladiator, Prince of Persia, and Game of Thrones. Following a brief stop in Ouarzazate—known as the “Hollywood of Africa” for its massive film studios—the drive continues along the Route of a Thousand Kasbahs and through the fragrant Valley of Roses. We finish the day in the Dades Valley, where you will marvel at the incredible “monkey fingers” rock formations and take in panoramic views of the gorge before checking into your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
DAY 3: DADES VALLEY → TODRA CANYON → MERZOUGA DESERT
Enjoy a hearty breakfast at your hotel before setting out on today’s exciting journey. We travel alongside the Dades and Todra rivers, passing through lush, verdant palm groves and authentic rural settlements. Our first major stop is the awe-inspiring Todra Gorge near Tinghir, an internationally renowned canyon featuring massive, sheer red cliffs that are a paradise for rock climbers and hikers alike.
Continuing toward the Sahara, you have the option to visit a traditional Berber cooperative to try on local attire and learn about nomadic culture at no extra cost. In the late afternoon, we arrive at the edge of the Merzouga desert. Here, you will trade the vehicle for a camel caravan and trek into the heart of the Erg Chebbi dunes. You will pause to witness a breathtaking desert sunset and try your hand at sandboarding before arriving at your luxury desert camp. After a delicious traditional dinner, the evening is spent around a crackling campfire, listening to Berber drum music beneath a brilliantly starry night sky.
DAY 4: MERZOUGA DESERT → AGDEZ → HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS → MARRAKECH
We recommend waking up early to witness the spectacular Sahara sunrise painting the sand dunes in vibrant colors. After a delightful breakfast at the desert camp, we begin our return journey toward the bustling city of Marrakech.
Today’s scenic route guides us through the magnificent Draa Valley, recognized as Morocco’s longest valley and famous for its endless canopy of date palms. We will stop in the town of Agdez to admire a breathtaking panoramic view of this lush oasis. Continuing our drive, we will pause for a refreshing lunch in Ouarzazate to refuel for the final leg of the journey. In the afternoon, we will traverse the majestic High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass once more, safely returning you to Marrakech by the evening. You will be dropped off at your riad to relax and reflect on the desert journey.
DAY 5: EXPLORE MARRAKECH & DEPARTURE
Begin the final day of your itinerary with a delightful breakfast at your riad. Today is dedicated to uncovering the rich history and vibrant culture of Marrakech. You will walk through history as you visit iconic landmarks such as the beautifully intricate Bahia Palace, the historic Saadian Tombs, the stunning Ben Youssef Madrassa, and the towering Koutoubia Mosque.
After a satisfying lunch in the medina, you will transition to the modern side of Marrakech to explore the exquisite, cobalt-blue Majorelle Garden—a serene botanical retreat in the heart of the city.
