Welcome to Morocco! Your 10-day grand tour begins with a warm reception at the Marrakech Menara Airport. Our professional driver will be waiting to greet you and transfer you directly to your charming, luxury riad located in the heart of the historic Medina. Depending on your arrival time, you will have the rest of the day at your leisure to relax, acclimatize, and perhaps take your first stroll into the bustling Jemaa el-Fnaa square as the evening food stalls come to life. Overnight in a Marrakech riad.
DAY 2: OUARZAZATE → SKOURA PALM GROVES → AMRIDIL KASBAH → ROSE VALLEY → DADES VALLEY
Following breakfast, we dedicate the morning to exploring Ouarzazate. We will visit the renowned Atlas Studios—Morocco’s largest film studio—and the spectacular Taourirt Kasbah, an ancient fortified castle. Leaving the city behind, we journey east to the Skoura oasis to explore the beautifully preserved Amridil Kasbah, which sits surrounded by an expansive palm grove.
The route then leads us into Kalaat M’Gouna, the heart of the Rose Valley, renowned for its annual May Rose Festival and locally crafted rose water, perfumes, and cosmetics. From there, we drive through Boumalne Dades into the breathtaking Dades Valley. We will pause to admire the fascinating “monkey fingers” rock formations and take in a panoramic mountain viewpoint over the winding valley below. Dinner and overnight at a well-rated riad in Boumalne Dades.
DAY 3: BOUMALNE DADES → TODRA GORGE → ERFOUD → MERZOUGA SAHARA DESERT
After breakfast, we continue our eastbound journey to the Todra Gorge. Here, the Todra River has sliced through the mountains to create a massive canyon with towering red cliffs. You will have free time to stroll through the canyon and take in its immense scale before we drive through the lush palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad, stopping for lunch along the way.
By the afternoon, we arrive at the golden dunes of the Merzouga Sahara. You will trade your vehicle for a camel, trekking deep into the sandy wilderness. We will pause on a high dune to witness a breathtaking desert sunset before continuing to your luxury desert camp. Enjoy a traditional dinner, followed by an evening of Berber drumming and dancing around a roaring campfire under a canopy of stars. Overnight in the luxury camp.
DAY 4: MERZOUGA REGION EXPLORATION → NOMADS → KHAMLIA → MERZOUGA LAKE
An early wake-up is highly recommended today to witness a spectacular desert sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, you will return to the village of Merzouga either by camel or a comfortable 4×4 transfer. Today is completely dedicated to exploring the wonders of the Merzouga region.
Our 4×4 adventure begins off-road with a visit to an ancient galena (eyeliner) mine. Next, we venture to the edge of the dunes to meet a nomadic Berber family, learning about their traditional way of life over a glass of mint tea in their handwoven tent. We then head to Khamlia village to experience the captivating Gnawa music and dance, a tradition brought by populations from Mali, Sudan, and Niger. After a break for lunch, we will take a relaxing stroll through a nearby palm grove and visit the seasonal wild lake of Merzouga, famous for attracting pink flamingos. Dinner and overnight at a hotel in Merzouga.
DAY 5: MERZOUGA DESERT → ZIZ VALLEY → IFRANE → FES
After breakfast, we leave the Sahara and drive to the historic town of Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet. If we arrive on a Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday, you will get to experience its vibrant traditional souk. Moving on to Erfoud, we will stop at a local workshop to see how the region’s famous fossilized marble is crafted.
The drive continues northward along the scenic Ziz River, stopping for a panoramic view over the sweeping Ziz Valley before breaking for lunch in Midelt. In the afternoon, we enter the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in the dense cedar forests to observe and feed the friendly, wild Barbary macaques. We’ll then make a brief stop in Ifrane—often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” due to its alpine architecture and cooler climate—before finally dropping you off at your accommodation in the imperial city of Fes.
